“KAYU” is from the Visayan term “kalayu” which means fire. For Chef Francis Sy, KAYU Kitchen + Bar executive chef, fire means passion. And his passion is cooking fusion cuisines and entertaining people through his love for food. Thus, the creation of Cebu’s newest fine dining destination

Located in Cebu’s growing food hub, Lahug, Cebu CIty, this restaurant in 32 Sanson by Rockwell will excite your tastebuds and love for fusion cuisines.

KAYU’s take on food is very familiar to the Filipino taste. It’s sweet and savoury. They have a lot of amazing food to choose from. When we were invited for a food event with fellow Cebu lifestyle bloggers, we had the chance to get a taste of what this restaurant is all about. The ambiance was total perfection. It reminded me of classy restaurants in Singapore and HongKong. It’s not very Asian but it’s a mixture of western and eastern influences. Staying true to what they pride themselves, fusion cuisines. The restaurant staff were very friendly and they definitely knew what they were serving us. From the feast-for-the-eyes appetizers, to mouthwatering entrees down to the whimsical yet delicious desserts, everything was prepared to perfection. It was passion on the plate.

Fine dining may not be for all of us. Some are afraid to try this kinds of restaurants because they fear that they are not getting enough of what they are paying for. But guys, KAYU Kitchen + Bar will change your mind. Now, you can experience fine dining without breaking your bank. I am not saying that food is cheap, but it is definitely affordable and worth the money. Maybe because everything is locally sourced. The next time I dine in KAYU, I will definitely bring someone special. It’s that good that every one you bring here will definitely feel special. (wink)
