I can still vividly remember Brad Pitt’s spread on a men’s fashion magazine wearing high-waisted pants by Bottega Veneta. The images were shot by the amazing American photographer Ryan McGinley. That magazine spread gave me the confidence to try the high-waisted pants but I can’t seem to find those that I picture on my mind. Luckily, after a gazillion trips to different thrift shops in Cebu I finally found the perfectly pleated high-rise trousers.
Since I went gaga over finally finding high-waisted pants, I bought three pairs in three different colors. But don’t worry because I did not spend a lot. I purchased them for only Php25 each. I would have bought more but I only found three in my size. It was such a high! Hahaha Anyway, they were actually very long that I had to crop them to my desired length. What made me decide to get them was the pleats. I instantly had an obsession to pleats. I think wearing pleated pants is the only way men can wear pleats. Hahaha
ABOUT THE LOOK
The one I am wearing in this blogpost is my favorite of the three. This pair of dark green pleated high rise trousers by classification is a little formal. But since I want to look more casual and loose that day, I paired it with my favorite white sneakers from Adidas. Cropping them shorter gave them a modern look. One of the best fashion trends for men in 2018 is combining formalwear and casual wear. I would have worn a plain white t-shirt but decided to wear something bright such as yellow to create different lines and to highlight the height of the pants. I also styled this look with an oversized coat which was also Php25 in the same thrift shop where I found the pants.
