BGC HOSTELS - EIGHT REASONS WHY STAYING IN A HOSTEL IS A GOOD IDEA

To travel is to live. But traveling on a budget is “LIFER”. A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to visit Manila, Makati and Quezon City. Since I planned on exploring these cities all day, I decided to stay in a hostel. The interesting part is I stayed in three different hostels for three days. One for each location.

Just because you are travelling on a budget, you don’t have to sacrifice comfort. You will be surprised that hostels are quite comfortable. In fact, I have eight reasons why staying in a hostel might be a good idea for you.

1.    CHEAP AND HIP BEDS
Hostels offer the cheapest beds. And BGC Hostel has beds that are equally comfortable to hotel beds. They also have private rooms good for sharing as well if you are travelling with friends.

2.   YOU’LL MEET MORE PEOPLE YOUR AGE
The growing trend with millenials right now is to travel. And since travelling on a budget is important to them, staying in a hostel is a perfect idea. These young people are more likely to go for an adventure rather than having staycations in a hotel.

3.   HIGH SPEED INTERNET
Since most hostels cater to travellers, they know that their guests need high speed internet.

4.   LOCALS KNOW BETTER
Most hostel staff are locals that are more knowledgeable of the location. They offer more credible suggestions on where and how to go to places that might interest your wandering feet.

5.    THERE'S A KITCHEN FOR EVERYONE
If you are on a budget or picky about what you eat, hostels have common kitchens that you can use for cooking. Most hostels are also located near grocery shops where you can buy ingredients that are perfect for your budget. In some cases as well, you can share food with other guests.

6.    YOU’RE MOST LIKELY TO MEET NEW FRIENDS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES
When I checked in to BGC Hostel in Manila, Melody the receptionist told me that a travel blogger from Poland just checked out two days ago. It would have been nice if I was able to meet her. Anyway, last summer when my friends and I travelled to Boracay, we also stayed in a hostel. We met a lot of travellers from different countries. Most of them from Europe that we had a chance to share dinner with. They asked for possible destinations they may want to visit after their stay in Boracay. Of course our common answer was, “You should go to Cebu!”

7.     LOCATION IS EVERYTHING
Hostels are basically located in strategic places where there are food, fun and entertainment. BGC Hostel in Makati is just a stone's throw away from Bonifacio Global City. You may just walk going to BGC from the hostel. Well, that's what I did. It saved me from getting uber all the time.

8. INSTAGRAM WORTHY SPACES
Gone are the days when hostels were just old houses turned  into sleeping spaces for travellers. Today, most hostels have become concept or boutique stay inns with unique and instagram worthy decors. BGC Hostels for example have different designs for each branch. My favorite has to be the one in Makati.

Of course, just like you I was also hesitant to stay in hostels before. But my experience has been nothing but great and educational. There is really nothing wrong with trying. But if you are still unsure, you may want to try it first with your friends. I assure you it’ll be fun and exciting.

Dorm Beds at BGC Hostel was at Php499/night with blanket and bath towel already. The staff were also very accommodating to my needs. So if you are going to Manila, Makati or Quezon City, I highly recommend that you check out BGC Hostels.
