(May 02, 2019 - Mactan Cebu International Airport) It’s 3:25 in the morning and I’m taking the 2nd earliest flight to Manila from my hometown, Cebu.

Two weeks ago, I almost backed out from pursuing a nursing career in the United Kingdom. I had a series of unfortunate events that led to this decision. One of them was securing a duplicate copy of my board certificate from the Professional Regulation Commission. I had to wait 3-5 months since it will be processed in Manila before they send it to their satellite office in Cebu. I got terribly frustrated that I informed the recruitment agency that I might withdraw my application since I won’t be able to submit the necessary documents in the given timeframe. It was just impossible for me to catch up with the other candidates who have completed the requirements.

The next day, as I was looking through my mother’s files to organize the mess I made from collecting some documents for the past months, the first folder I opened had my original PRC board certificate. I couldn’t believe it. I have been looking for this document for more than 2 months and I am pretty sure that I have run through this folder before. But there it was (PRC Board Cert) looking perfectly crisp. It felt like I found water in the Saharan desert. ( HAHAHAHA not that I have been to Sahara. But maybe one day I might. wink! ) I remembered saying, “Thank you, Lord!”. Then a sudden rush of excitement went through my veins. This was probably a sign from Him - that this is not the time to give up yet. I have worked hard to be given this opportunity to work outside of the Philippines - from taking the IELTS UKVI to passing the Computer Based Test for the Nursing and Midwifery Council in the United Kingdom. Now, I must commit to it and continue the process.

I am excited to what the future holds. So, if you are feeling down and helpless, try one more time and don’t forget to pray. I hope that whatever you are going through right now will only keep you stronger. My cousin once told me to don’t stress about delays because that is life. We take it to ourselves to make the most of what is given. So, keep believing in Him and trust His timing.
